THE MEDIEVAL TOWN OF PEROUGES AND ITS REGION LA DOMBES

The town of Pérouges invites to a fabulous travel through time! Pérouges, “one of the most beautiful villages in France” seduces by its simple beauty, the one of a small village of the late Middle Ages located in the edge of the plateau of the Dombes. Innkeepers, potters, calligraphs and paper makers are present in the village all year long, but if you meet armed knights and princesses, maybe a film is turning, or a feast is going on, as very often in the town.

A visit will allow you to dive into the history of the Middle Ages that this small town of weavers wonderfully illustrates. You will discover, along cobbled alleyways, its stalls, its craftsmen’s houses and its historical monuments, including a tree, yes! You will understand how this village was saved and restored; the association is still vigilant today to its protection … We will not fail to conclude this walk in time by a greedy stop with the famous galette …

The village of Pérouges is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful medieval sites in France.

VIENNA, ALONG THE RIVER RHONE

The pleasant city of Vienne is located in the Rhone Valley 30 kilometers south of Lyon at the entrance of the vineyards of Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie.

Vienna is one of the oldest cities in the region. Rich of 2,500 years of history, it has become a “city of art and history” thanks to its exceptional Gallo-Roman and medieval heritage: the temple of Augustus and Livia, the Pyramid or the Archaeological Garden of Cybele but also the former Saint Maurice cathedral, where were trialed the Knights Templar, are all historical evidence, perfectly integrated into the urban landscape.

The vestiges of the past are combined with a dynamic current life, a shopping center and an intense cultural activity, just like its renown jazz festival every summer time.

And on the other side of the Rhone river, do not forget to complete the visit with the site of Saint-Romain-en-Gal, spread over several hectares, which is one of the most beautiful museums and archaeological sites in Europe.

A must-see !
